Rosettes were all over the runways in New York, Paris, and Milan—as well as the bridal shows. Amsale’s Empire gown was two parts elegant one part earth mother; Elizabeth Fillmore’s neckline petals were sexy-slouchy; and Vera Wang’s unexpected burst of burgundy blossom required bravura.

Drop-waists accentuated the hourglass figure. Lazaro’s beaded bodices—snug as corsets—gave way to floor-sweeping, fluffy tulle; Badgley Mischka’s more fluid gown was less constricting but just as feminine.

Last season’s electric pinks and blues were gone. Instead, dresses were pale candy-colored bonbons in peach, green, and yellow. Jenny Packham’s plunging neckline had Art Deco pizzazz, and Tara Keely kept it tailored but ladylike. Reem Acra’s shiny mint mermaid-cut was the most memorable, with its sheer half-sleeves and girly bow.

Who says a wedding gown has to leave everything to the imagination? Angel Sanchez’s flirty feather skirt was eccentric; Elizabeth Fillmore’s ivory cupcake mini was demure; Jim Hjelm gave it a sporty spin with a belt and pockets; and Jenny Packham broke all the rules with her slinky numbers cut all the way to there.

Slim columns and delicate pleating are always classic. Oscar de la Renta’s diaphanous draping was perfect for an idyllic summer wedding, while Elizabeth Fillmore’s serpentine sash and Jenny Packham’s gauzy sweetheart gown were made for a black-tie affair any night of the year.
