THE BEST FOR.
Sunset Views
East Hampton Point(295 Three Mile Harbor Rd., East Hampton; 631-329-2800)
This airy restaurant is the best conventional venue choice in the Hamptons, with Saturdays booked months in advance. Sailboats and yachts docked along the pier-and the ocean glittering as the sun sets-make it a perfect beachside spot.
Local Charm
Nick's Restaurant(148 S. Emerson Ave.; Montauk; 631-668-4800)
Nick's is not fancy, but with the right event stylist, it could be great. Beautifully perched on the water, it has a great mix of lowbrow local flavor and high design, and serves great seafood. Tables can be set inside and out for exceptional party flow.
Vintage Preppy
Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club(231 Mid-Ocean Road, Bridgehampton; 631-537-1180)
Set at the end of a dramatic gravel driveway, the genteel BTSC rents its weather-aged clubhouse and grassy expanses for weddings. The club isn't on the ocean, but there's a sandy path leading to the beach.
A Casual Clambake
Ocean Colony(2004 Montauk Highway, Amagansett; 631-267-3130) This ski-chalet-style hotel
on the strip in Amagansett near Montauk will help couples coordinate the ultimate informal event: a clambake and bonfire. Think partying under the stars with the crashing surf behind.
Fickle Weather
The Ram's Head Inn(108 Ram Island Dr., Shelter Island; 631-749-0811)
The Yankee-traditional RHI has an elegant ballroom and dining room, plus a spit of land with water on two sides, allowing for an indoor-outdoor affair.
