A Leader in Matrimonial and Family law

Meet Ellen Holtzman, known and respected as one of New York’s leading matrimonial trial attorneys. With more than 30 years’ experience in helping both men and women navigate the rocky waters of divorce and child custody disputes, Ellen Holtzman has achieved a remarkable record of results in high-conflict cases. In addition to favorable results in the lower courts, Ellen and her associates are also known for their strength and expertise in appellate matters. The firm has argued cases in a broad spectrum of family law and matrimonial matters that have set legal precedents in the courts of the State of New York and the federal courts. Ellen is also a sought-after speaker at symposia on some of the most important issues in family law today, particularly issues involving child custody.

Most divorce and custody cases are settled outside of the courtroom, and Ellen’s reputation as an attorney who is able to achieve her clients’ goals through favorable settlement negotiations attracts women and men from throughout the metropolitan area. At the negotiating table Ellen has helped to resolve many challenging disputes to her client’s benefit, including custody issues, high asset marital property distributions, and division of complex family businesses.

In 2019, Ellen Holtzman was named to the Rockland County Women Leaders Hall of Fame in honor of her extraordinary efforts over the years to advance meaningful and positive change for the people of Rockland County and beyond. Ellen is a past president of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York and currently serves the people of New York as a Commissioner on the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission.
