Financial Services Regulation, Compliance, and Strategic Advisory Services

Maria T. Vullo is the Principal of Vullo Advisory Services, PLLC, a financial services strategic advisory firm. Ms. Vullo recently served as Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, where she was New York’s insurance and banking commissioner, responsible for the regulation of New York’s financial services industry. During her tenure as Superintendent, Maria issued a groundbreaking cybersecurity regulation that has become a national model, a first-in-the-nation transaction monitoring regulation, a “best interests” regulation for life insurance and annuity products, regulations ensuring comprehensive health insurance coverage, and resolved numerous significant enforcement actions. Previously, Ms. Vullo was a litigation partner with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and served as Executive Deputy Attorney General for Economic Justice. She specializes in insurance and banking regulation, cybersecurity and data privacy, fintech and insurtech, emerging technologies, corporate compliance, strategic litigation consulting, and mediation and arbitration.

In addition to her consulting practice, Maria is Regulator in Residence at the Fintech Innovation Lab and a Senior Fellow at NYU School of Law, PCCE. She is also a sought after keynote speaker and panel moderator.
