In warmer months, Laughing Lotus Yoga studio takes it outdoors with free one-hour Vinyasa classes held on a patch of greenery in Chelsea. A number of mats are available, but bringing your own is encouraged.

Pilates
Pier 1 at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Instructors from Brooklyn’s Fitness Guru studio lead this free one-hour Pilates mat class at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Class spots are limited (as are free mat rentals), so show up early to register.
Dates: Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Registration opens up at 6:30 p.m. Through August 31.
Capoeira
14th Street, Hudson Street, and Ninth Avenue
Combining martial arts and Afro-Brazilian dancing, this free Capoeira class is taught by Alvin Ailey instructor Tiba Vieira. It’s offered weekly at the Chelsea Triangle, which is located at the 14th Street, Hudson Street, and Ninth Avenue intersection.
Dates: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Through August 18.
ROOFTOP YOGA

West Village gym Printing House is making use of its much-coveted sun deck this summer by offering a few rooftop yoga classes scattered throughout the week. There’s an hour-long “sunrise” Vinyasa class offered Wednesday mornings at 6:45 a.m., a more meditative class done by candlelight Tuesday nights at 8 p.m., and a heart-pumping, 90-minute Vinyasa class Friday evenings at 6:45 p.m.
Dates: Through September 17.
Price: Non-members can opt for the club’s daily pass for $50.

The JCC hosts this rooftop Vinyasa yoga class in partnership with their 20s and 30s social group. Reward yourself with wine and snacks, which are offered after class.

Although a handful of the alignment-based Vinyasa classes are held on the rooftop throughout the day at this Greenpoint yoga studio, you’re often able to see the sun setting over the Manhattan skyline at the 8 p.m. class. The Thursday-night session, taught by the studio’s founder, Flannery Foster, includes live music.

BOOT CAMPS
Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Entrance; 646-354-0039
Locally renowned trainer Ariane Hundt offers a number of butt-kicking programs, including her daily Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camps. The session takes you through short intervals of running, squats, push-ups, and a number of other strength-training exercises, all done on the bridge.

Peppy personal trainer Brooke Marrone is holding her Park Workout camps this summer in Central Park. The four-week session is a hybrid of Pilates and body conditioning, and is inclusive of all fitness levels. Classes meet in the Tavern on the Green parking lot.

This budget-minded boot camp is led by personal trainer Dave duCille, who runs things more like a sports practice, with a short jog at the beginning followed by circuit training.
Dates: Regular classes are Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m., as well as a Saturday morning class at 9:30 a.m., while beginner sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Through September.
Price: The first class is $10 for new students, and $25 per class after that. A six-class package can be purchased for $125.

SOMETHING UNUSUAL
Hula-Hooping

This Hula-hooping class for adults incorporates yoga moves and cardio for a high-calorie-burning workout. For the summer, they are holding weekly sessions in Central Park. To get to the class, enter the park through the walking path at West 69th Street and follow the path across West Drive to the bocce-ball courts.
Dates: Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Through September.

Aerialist Boot Camp

Artistic director of the Fly-by-Night Dance Theater Julie Ludwick is hosting a week-long Aerialist Boot Camp at the Chelsea Piers. The 90-minute classes consist of ascending and descending the trapeze, and a series of strength-building mat exercises alongside the Hudson River. Bonus: Proceeds from the camp go toward funding the Fly-by-Night Dance Theater programs and scholarships.

Sea Kayaking
Along with a slew of other adventures, Outdoor Bound is hosting a couple of dates of sea kayaking on the Hudson River. Great for building upper-body strength, this event, which includes a workshop on the ways of paddling, is recommended for the physically fit. The classes leave at 8:15 a.m. and meet at 73rd Street and Broadway, before taking off for the Hudson Valley.
Dates: July 25 and August 21.
