Best Blintzes

Bari Musacchio, being a nice half-Jewish, half-Italian girl from Long Island, has carved out an apt niche for herself: running a bagel shop and lunch counter in Little Italy. Her blintzes are textbook specimens—at least on the surface, which is golden-fried in butter and dusted with sugar. What makes them unique is the choice of filling. Instead of the pot or farmer’s cheese common to the great Jewish-dairy tradition, Musacchio uses fresh ricotta from 122-year-old Alleva Dairy across the street and adds just enough lemon zest to make an impression.
