Madonna Admits to David Letterman That a Joint Was to Blame for Her Famous F-Bomb Tirade

The growing effort to legalize marijuana in the United States suffered a major setback last night. And, wouldn’t you know it, that old fuddy-duddy Madonna is to blame! While making a typically delightful appearance with her frequent on-air sparring partner, one David Letterman, Madonna recalled the evening back in March of 1994 when she inexplicably launched into a tirade at the Ed Sullivan Theater in which she dropped a bevy of F-bombs on the unsuspecting host. Dave tried to get at the root of Madonna’s ire that eve, suggesting that perhaps she was more than a little excited to sit across from the gap-toothed icon. However, Madonna resisted this diagnosis, instead offering the following explanation: “It wasn’t because I was excited about you.I think it may have had something to do with the joint I smoked before I came on.” Great, now all of the anti-marijuana advocates out there have another thing that they can lord over the pro–Mary Jane movement. Thanks for nothing, Madge!

And just in case you’re looking for a taste of the infamous evening on which Madonna channeled Goodfellas and said “fuck” thirteen times, well, then, here you go!
