Unstoppable pop star Katy Perry will guest in a Christmas-themed Simpson episode as herself. A catch: She’ll star in a live-action segment, and not as a cartoon, that features Simpsons characters as puppets. Perry will play Moe’s girlfriend, and she’ll sing “The 39 Days of Christmas” at some point. “In the wake of Elmo’s terrible betrayal, the Simpsons puppets wish to announce they stand felt-shoulder-to-shoulder with Katy Perry,” Al Jean, a producer, explained, in reference to Perry’s scene recently being cut from Sesame Street. In the same Simpson episode, Martha Stewart appears, too, but as a cartoon, getting totally one-upped by the singer. [Pop Watch/EW]
