Do you remember Rick Miramontez, the beleaguered Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark press rep best known for lashing out at critics for their “unprecedented and UNCOOL!” bad reviews? Evidently, he has settled down a bit: The Simpsons parodied Turn Off the Dark last night with a web-farting Spider-Homer and a rest home filled with broken-limbed Spider-Man performers, and Miramontez was quick to send out an excited press release. “Everyone at Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was extremely flattered by last night’s tribute on The Simpsons,” he said in a statement. “The Simpsons is an iconic American institution, and being part of last night’s episode was an honor and dream come true.” Yes, and better to be referenced in that than in the woman-beating Family Guy episode that followed, we guess.
