In a perfect world, all awards would be dropped on unsuspecting geniuses like the annual TED Prize is, so as to elicit reactions such as the following from 27-year-old JR: “I’m kind of stunned,” the street artist, whose work wheatpasting large-scale photos across buildings in dilapidated neighborhoods won him $100,000 to donate to a humanitarian project of his choosing, told the Times. “I’ve never applied for an award in my life and didn’t know that somebody had nominated me for this.” Aw. Now only if something like this would happen to us.
