Since the beginning of the Occupy Wall Street movement, published mentions of the term “income inequality” have increased more than fivefold, according to Politico’s Dylan Byers. There were 500 instances of the term in Nexis last week, compared to just 91 the week before the protests began. (So far, we’ve seen just one mention of the term “Zuccotti lung,“ but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more. It’s apparently “a real thing.”) What that means: While lots of the coverage of the protests has been on the arrests, the scandals, and the branding, it seems as if the basic message organizers were hoping to get promote is very much a part of the conversation.
