NewtGingrich.com Redirects to the Candidate’s Most Embarrassing Moments

MANCHESTER, NH - DECEMBER 12: Republican Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich takes part in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate with Jon Huntsman at Saint Anselm College on December 12, 2011 in Manchester, New Hampshire. When the Internet noticed that RickPerry.com routed users straight to Ron Paul’s website, we noted that NewtGingrich.com had also failed to be secured by the GOP candidate in question. (Perry keeps his official site at RickPerry.org and Gingrich has Newt.org.) Now it appears that Newt is being pranked in a similar way, but better. If you put NewtGingrich.com into a browser, it launches a playful, multipronged attack on the candidate, redirecting to an array of Gingrich-related negative press and humiliating moments, including the websites for Callista’s favorite jewelry store, Tiffany & Co.Freddie Mac, and a YouTube video of Newt palling around with Nancy Pelosi.

Roll the dice some more and you might also find yourself at a site about the Gingrich-approved vacation spot, Greece, or reading critical stories from the Washington Post or the Atlantic Wire.

The URL appears to be in the possession of the progressive American Bridge 21st Centruy PAC, at least according to a Craigslist posting purporting to sell the Gingrich site:

As the people who brought you RomneyForSenate.com, it’s not that we didn’t have our own ideas about what to do with the site. But, in true holiday spirit, we figured it might go to someone with greater need than us. Maybe someone trying to get that added edge going into 2012, or perhaps someone who may have been too busy earlier in the year to secure it on their own.

We thought of giving it away, but we wouldn’t want to be accused of being socialists. So, make your best offer. We’re asking for $1 million, but we’d be happy to accept $500,000 in bling. Heck in the spirit of Christmas we might even let it go for $10,000.

Just $10,000, eh? Maybe Romney wants to make a bid.
