Heilemann on Charlie Rose: Romney Sheds Warmonger Image in Debate

While in the past Mitt Romney has appeared more interventionist and neoconservative on foreign policy, New York’s John Heilemann said on Charlie Rose that he avoided that image in his final debate by siding with President Obama on several issues. “He managed to make himself not seem like a warmonger, to put it bluntly,” said Heilemann. He went on to explain that the challenge for Romney wasn’t just appearing presidential, but looking like “a commander-in-chief who’s not going to plunge us into a bunch of foreign adventures and a bunch of new military entanglements that would scare off a lot of American voters.”
