Protesters Arrested Outside Conservative Meet-Up in Palm Springs

David and Charles Koch, the businessmen and brothers who have funded the fight against global-warming laws and financially backed tea-party members, threw their annual, semi-secret four-day conclave-slash–”strategy session” in Palm Springs this weekend. The guest list of powerful conservative political donors is being kept quiet, but a group of protesters were not so quiet: Hundreds of people participated in a “mostly peaceful” demonstration near the convention. When 25 protesters crossed the street to the Rancho Las Palmas Resort, where the soiree was being thrown, and refused to leave, deputies in riot gear arrested them for trespassing. Police said the protesters were being booked at a local jail and released. With the clinking of mixed drinks as the guests toasted to John Boehner, who knows if anyone at the resort even noticed.
