The Gowanus Canal’s Toxic Waters Now Support Some Manner of Wildlife

For the first time in recent history, Gowanus residents have reported seeing a muskrat in the canal. Hans Hesselein, from Gowanus Canal Conservancy, admitted that creatures living in the waterway will have a shorter life expectancy. We hope that doesn’t apply to the toxic ecosystem’s other new interlopers: Houseboateus hipstersapiens. [NYP]
