Newtown Survivors’ House Burns Down, Killing Dog

Police guard the entrance to the Sandy Hook School on December 15, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut. The residents of an idyllic Connecticut town were reeling in horror from the massacre of 20 small children and six adults in one of the worst school shootings in US history. The heavily armed gunman shot dead 18 children inside Sandy Hook Elementary School, said Connecticut State Police spokesman Lieutenant Paul Vance. Two more died of their wounds in hospital.

This sucks: Two young children from Sandy Hook Elementary School lost their pet Chihuahua Goliath in a fire that destroyed their home this week. “Every single thing we ever owned is gone,” said Audra Barth, who also has a 2-year-old. “There is nothing. It’s been a rough year for the kids, for sure.” The family is currently staying in a hotel provided by the Red Cross, while a donation fund has collected more than $10,000 in 24 hours.
