President Obama thinks too highly of the American people to worry about them electing Donald Trump.

I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president,” Obama told reporters Tuesday. “And the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people. And I think they recognize that being president is a serious job. It’s not hosting a talk show or a reality show.”

For Republican primary voters, it’s hard to imagine a more compelling endorsement than the betrayer-in-chief’s seal of disapproval. But Obama didn’t just tell conservatives that they could shatter his (“secretly Islamic”) faith by voting for Trump. He also reminded them that another Republican candidate once helped craft a bill that he supported.

Does Obama not realize that by insulting Trump he’s only increasing the Donald’s chances of securing the GOP nomination? Or is he aware of this and actively trying to aid Trump and hurt Rubio, since the latter is widely viewed as the stronger general-election candidate?

On this question, a certain cyborg senator put it best.
