Yesterday, the Kansas City Royals drafted George Washington High School shortstop Mike Antonio in the third round (86th overall), the highest a New York City high-school player has been selected in fourteen years. More important, pitcher Chris Bates of Regis High School (full disclosure: That's our alma mater) went to the Brewers in the fifteenth round (459th overall), making him the school's first-ever draft pick.
