Congrats to the Red Storm baseball team, who defeated No. 18 UConn this weekend to capture the Big East Tournament title, as well as a spot in the 64-team College World Series. They’ll travel to the Virginia double-elimination regional to play Ole Miss on Friday — VCU is the fourth team in their region — and should have ace Kyle Hansen, who pitched against UConn, on the mound in the opener. (Hansen, one of fifteen freshmen on the roster, beat the Huskies on three days rest to win the tournament, in which the Johnnies also beat No. 9 Louisville twice.) If Hansen’s name sounds familiar, his brother Craig, a former St. John’s standout, was drafted by the Red Sox in 2005. [NYP]
