Dan Haren’s Pitching, Hitting Not Good Enough to Beat Yankees

Dan Haren didn’t pitch a terrible game last night (three runs over seven innings), but Andy Pettitte — who allowed two runs over seven to actually raise his ERA to 2.48 — pitched better. And Haren had a pretty good night at the plate (two-for-two with two RBI), but Alex Rodriguez — who drove in three runs and homered for the first time since June 3 — had a better one. And the Diamondbacks’ bullpen didn’t … actually, no, they were awful, allowing six runs in the eighth inning and turning a competitive 3–2 game into a 9–2 rout. The Yankees would win, 9–3, to improve to a Major League best 44–27.
