Like most people ‘round these parts, we can’t say we watch a whole lot of college baseball (except, of course, when players from our alma mater leap over the catcher to score a run). But we were nonetheless pulling for the freshman-heavy St. John’s baseball team to keep on advancing in the NCAA tournament, which they’d have done with a victory against top-seeded Virginia last night. Alas, the Red Storm’s season ended with a 5–3 loss in Charlottesville, and it’s Virginia that’ll move on to the round-of-sixteen super-regionals. [NYDN]
