Dwyane Wade Fearful That the Media Will Compare Heat Losing Streaks to 9/11

Here’s a quote credited to Dwyane Wade, as originally published on FanHouse yesterday: “We’re going to be wearing a bullseye. But that’s what you play for. If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again.” But don’t bother looking for it in the article; an editor’s note citing a transcription error has been added, and the quote’s been changed to the following: “We’re going to be wearing a bullseye. But that’s what you play for. We enjoy the bullseye. Plus, there’s going to be times when we lose 2-3 games in a row, and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade is coming down again, but it’s not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games.” See, Wade’s not comparing a losing streak to 9/11. He’s just assuming the media will be so shocked by a catastrophic two-to-three-game Heat losing streak that they’ll inevitably make the comparison to 9/11 on their own. [Fanhouse via Sporting Blog]
