We went through all that trouble a few months back putting LeBron in a KNICKS 6 jersey when we should have known the whole time that digit was in Landry Fields’s crosshairs. The Knicks announced yesterday that Fields, one of the team’s three second-round draft picks, will wear the number this season, a symbol of just how pleased they’ve been with him in the summer league. (The other two picks, Andy Rautins and Jerome Jordan? Not so much, though they’ll still both probably make the team.) A guy most people mocked when the Knicks picked him, Fields is the feel-good story coming out of Las Vegas. Plus, his first name is Landry.
