The work-release application of Super Bowl XLII hero/famed number thief Plaxico Burress has been denied for the second time by the New York State Department of Correctional Services, which cited — in a letter to his lawyers — the “serious and negative impact illegal guns have on the community coupled with dangerous nature of the weapon discharging in a public place.” (In a statement, the D.O.C.S. said that Burress’s prison record to this point is “satisfactory” but includes one misbehavior report, leading to today’s Plaxico Burress Prison Fun Fact: He reportedly lost his recreation privileges for a month after lying to a guard to gain access to a pay phone.) He’s scheduled for a conditional release on June 6, 2011 — he can’t reapply for work release until that date, either — so unless he appeals this decision and wins, Burress officially won’t be suiting up in the NFL this season. He has this in common with Jim Sorgi and Sinorice Moss. [NYDN]
