Gus Johnson Out As the Knicks Radio Voice

The Post reports that Johnson had “annoyed” MSG brass over the past two years by missing games because of his other jobs — he’s done football, college basketball, boxing, and mixed martial arts for national outlets — but Neil Best reports that the network wanted him back and was willing to work around those conflicts, and that the two sides couldn’t agree on contract terms. Johnson had been the Knicks play-by-play man since the 1997-98 season; Mike Crispino is now expected to handle much of the radio play-by-play. Best has actual quotes from Johnson about his departure, or you can just create your own here. [NYP, Watchdog/Newsday]
