St. John’s Adds a Recruit, and Gene Keady

Steve Lavin’s had a busy week: First, he landed another recruit in his impressive 2011 class in the form of guard D’Angelo Harrison, a Texas native and Rivals.com’s ninth-ranked shooting guard, who chose St. John’s over Marquette, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. Then today, the school is expected to announce that Gene Keady, the former Purdue coach and a mentor of Lavin’s, is joining the coaching staff as the executive assistant or adviser to the head coach, according to Andy Katz. The Post, meanwhile, also reports that Lavin’s about to embark on a recruiting trip — one he’s not allowed to discuss — and that sources say he hoped to have three more commitments this week.
