It’s a big day for reminders of the Omar Minaya era in Flushing. On the occasion of the Subway Series, you can read all about Luis Castillo and his infamous dropped pop-up in the Post today. (That column, incidentally, makes mention of this YouTube video, which perfectly captures how quickly the vibe inside the stadium changed at that moment.) And today also brings an update on the other Minaya mistake cut from the roster (if not cut from the payroll) this spring: Oliver Perez, now pitching in the Nationals organization, earned a win in his debut for AA Harrisburg last night, allowing one hit and an unearned run in five innings. His velocity, however, reportedly hasn’t improved since the spring. [ESPN via HardballTalk]
