Sean Avery, the Horse, Wins Longfellow Stakes

Actually, not only did a horse named Sean Avery win the $75,900 Longfellow Stakes at Monmouth Park yesterday, he won it by quite a margin: The 7–5 favorite, who paid $4.80 to win, won by 11¾ lengths. You can watch the race here, and we’d encourage you to do so, if only to hear the announcer’s awesome “Sean Avery scores!” call as he crossed the finish line. (We’ll note here that Sean Avery, the human, hadn’t scored a goal since March 3.) Finishing fifth, by the way: a horse named He’s So Chic. That one could probably be a reference to the Rangers’ winger, as well. [DRF via Puck Daddy/Yahoo]
