Just like Brandon Dubinsky before him, captain-in-waiting Ryan Callahan has avoided going to arbitration with the Rangers, agreeing to a deal worth a reported $13 million over three years. (That would be a cap hit of $4.33 million a year.) And just like Dubinsky — who signed a four-year deal last week — Callahan will give up two years of unrestricted free agency, at least under the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement. The Rangers, who have fourteen forwards under contract, have the option of a second buyout window, if they want to clear additional cap space. Otherwise, with all their desired restricted free agents signed, that might just wrap up the team’s off-season moves. [Rangers Report/Journal News, Blueshirts Blog/Daily News]
