Tonight, convinced by Chuck Klosterman’s Grantland argument that a Kentucky championship will mean the end of something special about college basketball, you’ll be cheering for Kansas in the national title game. (As an Illinois alum, it’s difficult to cheer for a Bill Self team, but we’ll suck it up for one night only.) Tonight’s game, aside from the minor matter of deciding the national champion, will also determine who wins our New York Magazine tournament pool. If Kansas wins, it’s “pritbut.” If Kentucky wins, it’s “dukakis1988,” finally allowing that guy to win something. C’mon, Kansas: Deal Dukakis another defeat. Tipoff is at 9:23 p.m., which is so late.
