The Tree-House Fantasy
German outdoor-furniture brand Dedon soft-opens its new Soho showroom this week with a display by fashion photographer Bruce Weber, whose new Swiss Family Robinson–esque campaign was shot in a tree house in Fort Lauderdale’s Robbins National Park. The photos were commissioned to express the durability and design of Dedon’s furniture in the kind of outdoor living room you may have dreamed of as a kid. The showroom is open by appointment only through January (76 Greene St., nr. Spring St.; 212-334-3345).

MoMA’s Ode to Slug Sex
Local artist Paula Hayes has established herself as a design-world darling through two decades of crafting terrariums in the form of living sculptures. Her work makes a large-scale appearance in the lobby of MoMA this week in an installation called “Nocturne of the Limax maximus.” Inspired by the nighttime mating rituals of the Limax maximus (more commonly known as the leopard slug), Hayes has created floor-to-ceiling structures of cast acrylic and handblown glass, brimming with fertile vegetation (11 W. 53rd St., nr. Fifth Ave.; 212-708-9400; through February 28)

Heaven for Techies
The perennially drool-worthy Wired store is reopening for the holiday season this week in the three-story former Tower Records space in Noho. In addition to the usual mix of cutting-edge tech gadgetry, the shop will double as a gallery of interactive installations and home design. Watch for the continuation of Chris Milk’s online “The Wilderness Downtown” project, with take-home seeded postcards that’ll someday turn into birch trees, an interactive musical sculpture by East Williamsburg-based design center 3rd Ward, and furniture curated by Karim Rashid (692 Broadway at 4th St.; 866-393-8054; Wednesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; November 19 through December 26).
