Tonight’s boldfaced parties:
• New York Restoration Project’s Hulaween gala. Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, 301 Park Ave., nr. 49th St., 6:30 p.m. Hosted by Bette Midler in honor of Willie Nelson; guests are scheduled to include Robert De Niro, Stevie Nicks, and Margaret Cho. Willie Nelson? Halloween? That’s fucking sweet! If we were even barely a celebrity, we would definitely name-drop and doorman-badger our way into this bad boy. (“Come on, don’t act like you never watched Viking Quest!”)
• Gotham magazine’s Halloween Costume Bash. The Grand, 41 E. 52nd St., nr. Madison Ave., 8 p.m. Hosted by Rachel Weisz; scheduled guests include Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher, Naomi Watts, and Rob Thomas. Winner of the best-costume contest gets a ticket to an advance screening of Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain. Imagine how excited Naomi Watts must be about the chance to get into an advance screening of a movie!
• Radio and A Prairie Home Companion. Museum of Television and Radio, 25 W. 52nd St., nr. Fifth Ave., 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour and 7 p.m. presentation. Robert Altman and Garrison Keillor will be on hand, screening unused footage from the PHC movie and playing snippets of their favorite old-timey radio shows. We like Robert Altman and Garrison Keillor; they seem like the kind of people who, if you crashed their party and went up and asked them a question about, like, Hemingway or something, would get in a really involved conversation, tell the security guard trying to kick you out that you were their second cousin, then wink at you before continuing a fascinating anecdote about a letter that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote to William Faulkner about A Farewell to Arms. Or at least that’s what we like to imagine.
