Benenson Capital Partners 100th-anniversary celebration. Ukrainian Institute of America, 2 E. 79th St., at Fifth Ave., 6 p.m. Who throws an anniversary shindig with scheduled guests like Cardinal Egan and Senator Schumer? A real-estate-investment firm, that’s who, marking its centennial by hosting an exhibit of works from the late Charles B. Benenson’s private collection (which includes paintings by Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Kandinsky, Basquiat, and others). Quite a generous gesture for an industry not known for civic-mindedness — or at least it would be if you could actually get in. As things stand, if you’re so much as seen in the vicinity, you’ll be put on the secret list of people who are never allowed to rent apartments in New York ever again.
• Shut Up & Sing screening. Regal Cinemas Union Square, Broadway at 13th St., 6 p.m. Remember when a band you may not know much about (the Dixie Chicks) said something about President Bush which upset a group of people you don’t want to know about (Toby Keith, right-wing radio hosts)? Well, there’s a movie about it — which you now know about. Aforementioned Chicks, Stanley Tucci, Nia Vardalos, and Sandra Bernhard are all scheduled to show.
• Feminist Press 36th-anniversary gala. Tavern on the Green, Central Park W., at 67th St., 6 p.m. Promised guests include Mark Ecko, Reggie Miller, Nick Cannon, and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels. Oh, excuse us, those are the guests for the Mark Ecko spring-line debut at Splashlight Studios, 529-535 W. 35th St., at Tenth Ave., at 7 p.m. Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, Eve Ensler, Barbara Ehrenreich, and others will be at the feminist-press event, according to the organizers, which makes much more sense …
