At last, an upside to this inconveniently truthy weather: an outdoor ice-skating party in April that felt as frigid as an ice-skating party ought to. “Skating With the Stars Under the Stars,” held at Central Park’s Wollman Rink last night, wasn’t a competition; it was a free-skate night benefiting Figure Skating in Harlem, a skating and educational program for girls, many of whom were on hand in snazzy ensembles to skate and get celeb autographs. The celeb contingent included lots of skaters — plus, of course, Mariska Hargitay. But the quotes of the night belonged to Carson Kressley and Johnny Weir; they’re after the jump.

If you could design your own figure-skating outfit, what would it be?
Carson: I did that once on an episode of Queer Eye. It was for this really hot skater guy, who wasn’t gay, which was so weird. I would do a Roberto Cavalli number. There was some German skater at the last Olympics who had the best outfits. Unfortunately, she sucked. But her outfits should have won, because they were all Cavalli.

Is there any homophobia left in figure skating?
Johnny: Of course. You can’t be yourself and get the result that you want. There are people born in the forties and fifties that are judging us. They can’t compare their lives to ours. Carson: Isn’t that crazy? Homophobia in figure skating! What next, homophobia in rhythmic gymnastics?! I’m outraged!

Want to try any other Olympic sports?
Johnny: Diving. Carson: Really? That’s so Greg Louganis of you! —Justin Ravitz
