The Talking Head and the Tiger

You see, the body of a young man was found floating in the pool of his mansion. Nobody important, really, just a hedge-fund manager, with a couple of talking-head appearances on CNBC to his credit. Poor dope. He always wanted a pool. Well, in the end, he got himself a pool. Only the price turned out to be a little high…

The story of Park Avenue investment manager Seth Tobias has been unfolding in tabloids and on blogs since he was found dead in his pool Labor Day weekend, but in today’s Times, Andrew Ross Sorkin brings us a fuller picture of what really happened, and it turns out it’s a lot more CSI than Sunset Boulevard. Not only did Tobias have a little problem with the nose candy, it also seems he might have been having an affair with a male go-go dancer called Tiger. Says the Times:

Seth used to come in here back when it was crazy,” said Adiel Hemingway, the longtime manager of Cupids. As a flat-screen television blared hard-core gay pornography, he said that Mr. Tobias often came to the club with his wife. Mr. Hemingway took out a picture of Tiger in his office. Tiger is blond and covered with tattoos that look like stripes.

Now, his wife, Filomena, who is not named in his will, is tussling with Tobias’s three brothers — who’ve accused her of murder — over his $25 million estate. We don’t know about you, but this is going to make us look a little differently at the folks we’re getting our stock tips from.
