When casting directors for Gossip Girl invited Jay McInerney to guest-star on the show, they couldn’t have known the can of worms they were opening. McInerney is married to Anne Hearst, the granddaughter of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst and member of one of the most famous wealthy families in New York. So it was really only a matter of time before one of the show’s sexy young cast members used McInerney as an entrée into that sector of society. It’s the perfect crossover of reality and television fiction. On Gossip Girl, wealthy dimbulb Nate Archibald would be chasing heiresses exactly like Amanda Hearst. And in real life, Chace is doing exactly that. According to “Page Six,” Crawford was spotted “trying to cozy up to Amanda Hearst last weekend at the Water Mill home of her mom, Anne Hearst, and her stepdad — and Gossip Girl guest star — Jay McInerney.”
This is truly a clusterfuck. Especially since Amanda’s cousin, Lydia, made a guest appearance on the show and was promptly seduced by Chuck Bass. All we need is a terrorist attack on Constance Billard by Patty Hearst, an embarrassing next-door home foreclosure by Veronica Hearst, and a on-location shoot at Hearst Castle, and the meld will be complete!
