Phil Griffin: Leave Olbermann Alone!

MSNBC’s awesome hippie president Phil Griffin is very upset about a Post item the other day that alleged that NBC removed Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from their anchor chairs because “a lot, maybe thousands” of shareholders complained about their behavior during the Democratic and Republican national conventions. “This makes me so mad, because it’s so untrue,” he tells the Observer today, adding that, actually, the decision to remove them was the result of a long “philosophical” debate that unfolded quite naturally and culminated, in the Mediterranean spirit, over wine and octupus at D.C.’s Cafe Milano. “Somebody is spreading rumors,” he said. “It’s wrong.” But Phil isn’t going to let it get the best of him. “I know that a lot of people love to follow whisperers and disgruntled people,” he says. But in the end, the universe will take care of it. “It’s all working,” he tells the Observer. Om.
