Times Spokeswoman Catherine Mathis Jumps Ship

Catherine Mathis has been a spokeswoman for the New York Times for over a decade, rising to the level of senior vice-president at the company. She’s fielded calls for the newspaper “through times of growth and then the sharpest contraction the company has endured since the Depression,” according to the paper. In our experience, she’s always been helpful, tight-lipped but honest, and quick to respond — not something you can always count on from a flack for a print outlet. She’s now leaving her relatively thankless gig to take a similar job with Standard & Poor’s, the financial research and analysis firm. [Media Decoder/NYT]
