Newspaper Circulation Numbers Plummet

Grim: The Audit Bureau of Circulations released a report this morning revealing that the average daily newspaper circulation has plunged 10.6 percent in the past six months (the Times, Daily News, and Post are down 7.2 percent, 13.98 percent, and 18.77 percent, respectively). However, this is not necessarily because no one wants to read newspapers, Editor & Publisher says hopefully. “Publishers have been purposely pulling back on certain types of circulation, including hotel, employee and third-party sponsored copies … The cost of delivery and the cost of materials have forced publishers to scale back.” [E&P]
