Valerie Jarrett: ‘This Isn’t Anything That’s Simply Directed at Fox’

Presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett seemed to tone down the White House’s public battle stance against the Fox News Channel yesterday when speaking with Campbell Brown. “This is the thing. I don’t want to just generalize that all Fox is biased, or that another station is biased. I think what we want to do is look at it on a case-by-case basis,” she said. “And when we see a pattern of distortion, we’re going to be honest about that pattern of distortion.” Jarrett’s tone was notably less combative than Communications Director Anita Dunn’s when Dunn said earlier this month that Fox News was “a wing of the Republican Party.” “We’re calling everybody out,” Jarrett said. “This isn’t anything that’s simply directed at Fox.” Though, when asked by Brown whether she thought the network was biased, Jarrett couldn’t stifle a guffaw. “Well, of course they’re biased,” she laughed.
