Starting this April, when New York drivers renew their vehicle registrations, they’ll also have to pony up $25 for the state’s redesigned license plate, which is golden and extra shiny. According to the state’s commissioner of motor vehicles, the new plates will “reflect New York’s force and its resilience” and its being very, very broke. [NYT]
