The U.S. is hoping to land the World Cup in 2018 or 2022 and in order to convince FIFA to bring the tournament here the U.S. bid committee has lined up a bunch of rich and powerfuls (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mia Hamm, Drew Carey) to make the case. The newest member of the committee is our very own Mayor Bloomberg. In this one minute video he talks about why the U.S. should host the World Cup (we celebrate all cultures! we speak all languages! we welcome everything!) and lets loose with a rather weak six-second “GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL.” If the U.S. bid hinges on this effort, we’re in bad shape.
