An MTA whistleblower, Juan de los Santos — who spoke to the agency’s investigators in a probe which found that some track repairmen were working only four hours a day — claims he was pushed onto the tracks as payback by a co-worker, leaving him with a broken nose and broken teeth. That’s scary stuff — if it happened. But way down near the end of the Daily News’s writeup about de los Santos’s story is this little tidbit: “One police source said de los Santos initially told detectives he believed he was pushed but wasn’t absolutely certain he didn’t simply fall.” Considering that, we’re confused about the level of concern we should be feeling right now.
