White House: Appease Lieberman

According to unnamed sources, the White House has told an incredibly frustrated Harry Reid to accede to the demands of the most powerful senator in the United States, Joe Lieberman, which would require removing the public-option trigger and Medicare buy-in from the health-care-reform bill. This would risk the defection of some liberal Democratic senators, as well as a 60-member bloc in the House, but the reality is that anyone in Congress seems more persuadable than Lieberman at this point, and the White House would rather have a less robust bill than none at all.
