Congressional Democrats Ready to Play Ping-Pong

As Congress finally enters the home stretch of health-care reform, in which the different bills passed by the House and Senate must be merged, Democratic leaders have reportedly decided they’d rather not subject themselves to weeks of more delays wrought by Republican stall tactics. So instead of reconciling the bills in a formal conference committee, they may go with the “ping-pong” method — which, in one form, involves “the chambers send[ing] legislation back and forth to one another until they finally have an agreed-upon version of the bill” — or possibly just group-edit it in a Google Doc.
