Bloomberg News is quietly ramping up staff in its Washington bureau as a part of a project to put Capitol Hill dailies like The Hill, Politco, and Roll Call out of business. It has even started stealing their employees! Bloomberg’s plan, according to Media Bistro, is to develop a system to deliver Capitol Hill news using technology similar to its financial software. The project is reportedly set to cost $100 million and create 40-50 editorial positions (that’s around 40-50 more editorial positions than created in 2009). It also has a name, BGov, which may or not have been stolen from a rapper.
