Casey Johnson’s death was not, as many people suspected, a drug overdose or a suicide, the Los Angeles coroner announced today. The heiress died of diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition caused by a lack of insulin and high blood sugar. If she had been found within 24 hours, she might have survived, former New York City chief medical examiner Michael Baden told the AP, adding a not-so-thinly veiled rebuke to her “friends” and family. “If you have somebody with diabetes, there should be somebody checking up on that person.” [USAT]
