Federal Government Gets a Snow Day

The federal government will be closed Monday due to the record-setting snowstorm in the D.C. area over the weekend. The Office of Personnel Management convened with local and state officials Sunday afternoon and concluded that a Monday morning commute would be too unsafe for employees. When the federal government is closed for a day, it costs taxpayers roughly $100 million in “lost productivity,” which makes this basically the most expensive snow day ever. [Washington Post]
