U.S. Snowboarder Leaves Olympics After ‘Racy’ Pics Emerge

Apparently having learned nothing from Michael Phelps, Scotty Lago, who won a bronze medal in the snowboard half-pipe last week, offered a public apology to U.S. officials and volunteered to leave the Games completely after questionable pictures turned up on the Internet involving Lago, his bronze medal, and a female fan (check ’em out here).

TMZ posted the pictures on Friday morning, and Lago, 22, subsequently apologized to the U.S. Olympic Committee and then left Canada, according to U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association president and CEO Bill Marolt. Lago, who was participating in his first Olympics, was not scheduled to take part in any other events.

Scotty Lago is a great athlete, but with that comes a responsibility of proper conduct and his involvement in this situation is not acceptable,” Marolt said in a written statement. “Scotty realizes his conduct was inappropriate. He has formally apologized and also made a decision to leave Vancouver today.”

We’re guessing Shaun White spent the weekend detagging Facebook pictures.
