health carnage

A Good Sign for Democrats

House Democrats have defeated a Republican resolution, 222–203, that would have prohibited the Democrats from using the controversial “deem-and-pass” strategy that will allow them to avoid voting directly on the Senate’s crappier health-care bill before they add fixes. All 222 in the majority were Democrats, and as Politico’s Live Pulse points out, a few Democratic fence-sitters were among the 222. Ironically, the House didn’t vote directly on this resolution regarding voting directly on health-care reform. Congress is way more complicated than it needs to be sometimes. [Live Pulse/Politico]
